The murder case against Amanda Manku’s father has been postponed.

The father of Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku, who portrays Lizzy Thobakgale in the SABC 1 drama series, was remanded in custody after his second court appearance on Thursday, January 18.

William Manku, a police captain, stood at the Lebowakgomo Magistrates’ Court in 2021, accused of murdering the actress’ mother and grandparents.

Manku appeared in court along with two co-accused: his police sergeant girlfriend, Nonhlanhla Ngubo, and David Khoza, a 40-year-old Mozambican national.

Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, spokeswoman for the Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), stated that the accused were remanded in custody since the case had been postponed.

“The matter was postponed to January 23, 2024; the state was not ready because of the 212 affidavit (profile and status verification of accused one) of David Khoza,” she went on to say.

Last week, Amanda Manku released a statement on behalf of her family.

“On January 10th, 2024, three suspects appeared in the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court in connection with the murder of two women, ages 70 and 45. The mother and daughter were shot and killed by unknown men on May 4 2021, at Makgophong village, Zebediela.”
