‘Skeem Saam’s’ T’bose, Hungani Ndlovu, Describes His Role.
Hungani Ndlovu has sunk his teeth into a new character that has undoubtedly rocked the Skeem Saam boat for certain viewers and divided the audiences who enjoy taking apart the new T’bose over the workweek.
On Skeem Saam in June, Hungani was unveiled as the replacement for Thabo “T’Bose” Maputla. While Hungani thought the entire process was delightful, some people have grown to prefer the new, “snobbish” T’bose.
The production essentially wanted a fresh character, but staying within the parameters of T’bose, Kwaito, and Kat in the sense that they were not just focused on the T’bose we knew from the story, he said.
He had travelled abroad, and the idea was that he had gone through culture shock or had encountered a foreign way of life and a life experience that he had never been exposed to, which had somehow altered him and made him who he is now.
“I didn’t have to focus on the T’bose that was there before, but instead focus on what can I bring that would be different,” the actor stated.
In spite of the fact that part of my homework required me to analyse past performances, nuanced interactions, and character relationships, my task was to come up with something fresh, something that audiences would not necessarily expect, rather than trying to conform to expectations.
It’s not 99% of the time like he was going to speak Sepedi all the time. What would happen if he didn’t speak Sepedi all the time to his parents, his family, and the people around him? How would they differ in their engagement?
“But for me, it was a wonderful experience. I was aware that whatever I brought, people would have to decide whether they liked it or not. There is no middle ground; you must either accept or reject the offer. Both from the standpoint of the audience and the actor, I find that to be a great place to be.
Despite the fact that his persona is periodically scrutinised on social media, Hungani Ndlovu said he enjoys talking. The fact that the audience has noticed the character’s development is both amusing and inspiring to him.
Additionally, he has taken it upon himself to evaluate how well he did on the programme. I’ve been in the business long enough to know that folks always have something to say.
Do I think I did my best, regardless of what others may think, or do I think I could have done better? Or did I not act in accordance with my own desires, contributions to society, and public perception?
Then he asked, “Do I feel like I’ve given it my all? Yes. So, aside from allowing it to influence me, there is really nothing else that I can do. If I felt like I gave it my all and someone wasn’t having fun, I couldn’t change that, so it would just do more harm than good for me.
