On Saturday, August 10, friends, family, and admirers of the late rapper Malome Vector gathered in his hometown of Roma, Maseru, Lesotho, for a poignant farewell ceremony. Born Bokang Moleli, the talented musician made a lasting impact on the music scene before his untimely death at 32.

The funeral services began at the Roma Christ the King High School, where loved ones celebrated Malome Vector’s life and contributions to music. The emotional gathering paid tribute to his vibrant spirit and creative legacy. After the service, a procession took him to the cemetery in the community he cherished.

Malome Vector tragically passed away on July 24, just two weeks before the funeral, due to a car accident on the N8 in Bloemfontein, Free State. The accident also claimed the lives of fellow musician Lizwi Wokuqala and videographer Musa “Da Mos” Nkondo, shocking the music community and highlighting the fragility of life.

A memorial service on August 8 at the Lehakoe Recreational Centre in Maseru allowed loved ones to share heartfelt memories, showcasing Vector’s passion for music and generous spirit. The outpouring of love reflected not only the personal loss felt by those close to him but also the void left in the music scene.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, two of Vector’s fellow accident victims have also been buried in South Africa: Lizwi Wokuqala in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal, on August 4, and Musa “Da Mos” Nkondo in Tshwane on July 30. Many mourn the loss of these talented individuals with bright futures ahead of them.

As we reflect on Malome Vector’s life, it is vital to celebrate his music and the connections he fostered within his community. His legacy will live on through the songs that resonate with many and capture the essence of his experiences.

In times of grief, music often becomes a powerful healing force. Malome Vector’s contributions will be long remembered, and although he may no longer be with us, his voice will continue to echo in the hearts of those who found solace and inspiration in his work.
