Senzo Dhlomo Spills the Tea: What Really Happened Behind the Scenes at Generations

Okay, so remember the Generations drama back in 2014? The whole “axing of the OGs” situation? Well, Thami Mngqolo, aka Senzo Dhlomo (Sibusiso’s son, for those playing at home), has finally opened up about what went down, and it’s juicy!

In a tell-all interview on The King David Studio podcast, Thami revealed some serious stuff. Apparently, the cast were totally blindsided when they were told the show was getting a revamp, with a new storyline and a whole new cast. Can you imagine? After all those years building the Generations legacy!

Thami, bless his heart, was confident the new version wouldn’t hold a candle to the original. He even said, “You can try, but you will never have what you had with those and the legacy it had built up. You can try, but it will never have the same essence.” Burn! And honestly, a lot of fans felt the same way. “The death of Generations,” they called it! Dramatic, but you get the sentiment.

What’s even wilder is that the cast apparently went all the way to then-president Jacob Zuma for help! Talk about pulling out all the stops. But alas, their efforts were in vain.

So what’s Thami been up to since then? Well, while he hasn’t been dominating the TV screens, there are whispers he’s been working behind the scenes and making a name for himself as an MC. He’s also snagged some radio gigs. Good for him for pivoting!

The whole Generations saga really left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths. Sixteen actors were axed! It was a drastic move, and Thami’s insights definitely shed some light on the shock and disappointment the cast felt.

It just goes to show, even in the glamorous world of TV, things aren’t always as they seem. And sometimes, the “family” you build on screen can be ripped apart without warning. What do you guys think? Did the new Generations ever live up to the original? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
